The Japanese automaker has released the new 2015 Mazda6 that is currently available at our dealership. The stylish midsize sedan combines a sense of sophistication inside and out, with a sporty personality that can be observed via athletic handling and quick acceleration. The new 6 is also fuel efficient, and offers quality materials in a comfortable and well-managed interior.

Try all you want, but resisting the charming all-new 2015 Mazda6 is not an easy task. The curve of the grille, the aggressive looking headlights, and the nice shape of the car are likely to lure you in. It’s only the beginning of the “6” appeal, for as you enter the vehicle, the grip of the steering wheel and the comfortable driving position will further seduce the driver.

Mazda’s new 2015 sedan is offered from $24,495 MSRP, and comes available in three trims: GX, GS, GT. Regardless of the model, the vehicle will be equipped with a SKYACTIV-G direct injection 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine that generates 184 horsepower, and 185 lb-ft of torque at 3,250 rpm. Overall, the powertrain is smooth and responsive.

The goal of Mazda’s SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY is to “reduce fuel consumption and emissions without compromising driving experience.” They have been able to do this with a very high compression ratio of 14.0:1 that helps to get more energy (and better performance) from fuel, and by reducing the weight and friction of the engine to enhance efficiency, among other aspects.

The design of the transmissions also helps to improve fuel efficiency by 4-7 percent. With the base model, consumers can expect their 2015 Mazda6 to be equipped with a standard 6-speed manual, and an optional 6-speed automatic with SPORT mode is available. For the pleasure of using paddle shifters, buyers will have to opt for this feature on the GS or GT trim.

The fuel economy ratings of the midsize sedan are also quite impressive. The vehicle has a rating of 8.8/6.1 litres per 100 kilometres (city/hwy) when equipped with the 6-speed automatic transmission. With the Japanese automaker’s i-ELOOP system included – Mazda’s regenerative braking system that captures and stores electricity - the consumption ratings drop, and consumers can expect 8.4 and 5.9 L/100km instead.

In terms of safety, the 2015 Mazda6 received the top 5-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Traction and stability control are included with the midsize sedan, along with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and several available technologies like Forward Obstruction Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross traffic alert.

The “6” appeal increases with comfort and convenience features. Standard heated front seats, driver’s memory position that saves you the hassle of re-adjusting your seat, a rearview camera, and a voice-activated navigation system are available depending on the model. Leather-trimmed upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and the leather-like door trim are offered as of the mid-level GS model for drivers that want to add more luxury to the already sophisticated 2015 Mazda6. Consumers can also opt for the moonroof, which adds to the aesthetic look of the vehicle.

In addition, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and Bluetooth come standard, and satellite radio and an 11-speaker audio system are available on the top GT trim.

The 2015 Mazda6 continues to provide buyers with an attractive vehicle, with the type of performance that can easily back-up the sporty look and vibe of the sedan. Good fuel economy ratings are another aspect to consider, and the available features truly enrich the overall appeal.
